Folderol Welcome!

                        Folderol Slush Pile

Last year five writers contributed to The American Writer and we opened this year with a week-long collection of pieces written by the five same writers.  I invite last year's contributors to send me pieces they'd like to see published here at The America Writer.  But I'd also like to invite any writer with an interesting voice and a story to tell to submit short fiction, short non-fiction, novel excerpts, plays, essays and how-to articles on writing to me at Tom@TomEubanks.com.

My intention for this blog was to make it a place for American writers to have their writing published without all the editorial constraints.  Simply put, if I like it, I publish it.  If I don't like it but I figure someone else might, I publish it.  Yes, that's right, folderol is welcome.  Why?  Because one man's folderol is another man's entertaining nonsense.

If you don't have the time nor the inclination to write something long, then don't.  Write a short-short (150 words or less).  Better yet, here's an assignment: Take a picture and write a story around it.  Send me both the picture and the story.  Easy.  All you need is a camera, a computer, a monitor, a keyboard, the ability to download the picture into the computer. . .and the talent to write.  That's it.  Oh, and you have to know how to e-mail stuff.  Yeah.  That's it.  I think.  I'll let you know if there's anything else you need to know.

Here's the potentially good part about all of this.  If I like it and I publish it, you might get paid (but not likely).

Thank you for reading The American Writer.  Onward!

I'm behind on responding to my comments.  My apologies.  Take a picture of of your husband washing the dishes.  Or vacuuming.  Or dusting the furniture.  Tell him you need these photos for an important piece you're writing.  You'll get your house cleaned and, possibly, a great photo to get the pen moving.  Just an idea.
