The Three E's

When I titled my novel Worlds Apart I thought it was unique, but on iUniverse.com, where the book is now available for purchase in softcover or as an E-book, there were seven other books with the same name.  Five are novels.  So I was "Worlds Apart" from being unique.

I chose this topic for my maiden voyage of The American Writer blog, because what we think isn't what we know.  And I need to remember that when I write this blog. I hope to meet my own requirements in a blog...the three E's...Entertain, Enlighten and Educate.  That's really the order of my priorities, too.  I'd love to think I'm smarter and philosophically superior to put "Entertain" at the end of that list, but, fortunately for you, that's not the case.

A few years ago, I wrote a blog as an Artistic Director of a theater company.  I got everyone pissed off at me.  So I quit writing it.  I think I figured out how not to worry about getting everyone pissed off at me: assume I will and try to entertain more than enlighten.

    My Web site (
www.tomeubanks.com) is finished and up today, but it takes about 24-48 hours for it to circulate through the Internet--like new blood being replaced through a body on the mend.  Yes, at 57 years old, I see myself as "new blood." You may reach this blog from the Web site.

I will try to blog every day, because my research tells me that's the only real way to get a following.  I want a following so you'll read my books, see my plays, get to know me and perhaps give you someone to laugh at who won't take it personally.  Oh.  Please comment, too.  That's how I get a laugh back.
